Radiohead interview shows band's ethics

KRT Campus If there's one thing Radiohead has proven indisputably in its decade-long career, it's that the British quintet loves a challenge. Radiohead is at the leading edge of what once used to be known as progressive rock - a band that meshes psychedelic sound experiments and avant-garde electronic textures with rock guitars and the occasional sing along chorus.

'Trip' actors portray love, gay romance naturally

Mexican film just misses bull's-eye

by Sam Beresky Daily Lobo "Lucia Lucia," the latest film from Mexican director Antonio Serrano, throws a fantasy world of children's books, multi-generational sex, mid-life boredom, gained love, lost love, weapons dealers, fake unions, foiled money exchanges in blue suitcases, gay porn theaters and even a story of self-discovery, into a mix-matched medley of scenes.

Centro-matic makes pop good

Grunting and nu-metal aside, songwriting is back and bands like Centro-matic are supporting the fad. With the advent of bubblegum punk and emo in mainstream radio, it became OK for guy singers to croon about their girlfriends and their feelings again. Film's beauty outweighed by boredom

Artistic, beautifully scripted films made for and by the thinking man have become an acquired taste and in the case of "Le Cercle Rouge" or "The Red Circle," by French filmmaker Jean-Pierre Melville, the taste is more anchovy than caviar. This French action film, re-released with sub-titles by John Woo and Rialto Pictures, will be opening Aug.

Maroon 5 falls short of their influences

by Sam Beresky Daily Lobo After reading the press kit on Maroon 5, one thing is very apparent - this band has a ton of hype surrounding it like a big hunk of Velveeta. Somebody is really pushing to get this five-piece band some recognition. The first single, "Harder to Breathe," is getting a lot of adult-contemporary radio exposure.
