Editor, For the first time in 35 years UNM hasn’t had an increase in tuition or fees, and we are grateful to work with Regents who actively listen to students and are responsive to the realities of New Mexican families.
Editor, I was very disappointed to learn that President Frank failed to honor an agreement that he made with the ASUNM and GPSA presidents and removed over $5 million of student fees from the purview of the Student Fee Review Board without their knowledge. Editor, I want to thank UNM professor David Correia for being out on the front lines of social progress for us in the community. As an alumnus of UNM, it makes me proud to see one of my fellow faculty leading the movement for justice.
Editor, The job of the University President is to guide and represent the University and look out for its well-being in a financially, academically and socially conscious way. Sometimes I have to make unpopular decisions.
First, I want to say how proud and encouraged I am by the students who have formed #OurUNM. They are trailblazers who have chosen to look corporate greed in the eye and ask for an accounting. Right now, they are the only reason I am proud to be a Lobo.
In response to today’s headline, “Protesters hijack City Council meeting:” When will the media stop portraying protesters exercising their civil rights as terrorists? And in response to other media accounts that have described the meeting as “descending into chaos:” What is “chaos” and what is “order?”
There is apparently an interesting paradox at the University of New Mexico. On the one hand, a group of students without understanding of the Middle East and the majority of whom have never been there have decided to divest from the State of Israel. The groups are deciding the ‘correct’ borders for the democratic, successful economy of the Jewish State of Israel.
Editor, I am writing this in response to Elisheva H. Levin’s letter titled “GPSA has no right to dictate foreign policy.” There are several premises in her letter that are simply wrong, starting with the idea that students (as represented by GPSA) are somehow dictating foreign policy.
Editor, The Graduate and Professional Student Association has acted unprofessionally and maliciously, and has sullied the University of New Mexico.
Editor, This week our campus was visited by preachers bearing the message that all Christians must live perfect lives. Their names were Steve and Sebastian. Their voices filled the patio air on the east side of the SUB with accusations, condemnation, and promises of eternal hellfire.

Editor, Emily Larsen, a student at UNM, wrote a letter appearing in Friday’s Daily Lobo which stated that “the hate and resentment expressed toward the ‘rich and white’ (allegedly by #OURUNM at our first march)
Editor, I strongly support legalizing marijuana. Booze, cigarettes and prescription drugs kill millions worldwide every year, but I know of no one killed from using only marijuana.
Editor, The Daily Lobo’s coverage on Wednesday of what they called the “Immigration Film Festival Debate” was largely fair. However, I do have to criticize their headline “GOP: Immigrants are a threat to U.S.”
Editor, This is an open letter to Catholic students and parishioners of the Aquinas Newman Center. It is known that the Dominican priests who have been there for decades are being moved elsewhere and new priests are moving in.
Editor, This letter is in response to your article, “GOP: Immigrants are a threat to U.S.” in Wednesday’s Daily Lobo. Being a registered Republican, I would like to point out that many Republicans are not against immigrants or immigration itself, though there are several who are.
Editor, Like Moses — like Paul Revere — like an enormous friend waving happily in the distance, I have served the people of UNM — like a prophet, you might say — a messenger, a voice of hope and good cheer in these, our times of trial and confusion.
Editor, I am a UNM undergrad writing in response to Don Schrader’s letter in Tuesday’s Daily Lobo. While we all, Schrader included, are entitled to our own opinions, no one is entitled to his or her own facts.
Editor, I compliment and I thank many Jews of conscience in the United States and in Israel who have spoken out loud and clear, publicly condemning the Israeli government’s brutal oppression and mass murder of Palestinians.
Editor, In last Wednesday’s Daily Lobo the above-the-fold article, “Term ‘illegal’ raises furor,” was about future seminarian for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe and current ASUNM Senator Colt Balok using the non-Catholic term of ‘illegal’ regarding the driver’s license debate.
