Mexico not most unsafe place to study abroad

Editor, UNM students should very carefully consider study and travel in Mexico. I still advocate study in Mexico, but only in very controlled circumstances — circumstances that will curtail UNM students’ engagement with all of the valuable experiences that were once possible in the country.

Pastors should live on their spiritual rewards

Editor, I am certain that Senator McGill is right about people performing the tasks that God gives them the ability to do, (or, as some say, “God calls them to do”) regardless of what they are paid to perform those tasks.

Tech students too pale, need more time in sun

Editor, Why do I get the overwhelming impression that engineers are afraid of daylight? Don’t get me wrong — I’m not some sort of bronzed Adonis — but I can’t help but wonder why every engineering classroom I’ve ever been in has had its windows closed snug and its blinds tightly drawn.

Outdated style column caters only to women

Editor, I have read with great interest two recent columns by Faerl Marie, an apparent style consultant, and have wondered what the history is behind allowing or inviting this particular columnist to contribute to the Lobo’s readership.

Loss of Lottery would hurt UNM, the state

Editor, It is with sadness that I see the Lottery Scholarship may be ending in 2014. It truly saddens me to see, as it can be nothing but a benefit to the state to have educated people in it, and it can be nothing but a benefit for a young person to be educated.

We the people say ‘no’ to Internet censorship

Editor, We are now 15 hours into the biggest online protest in history, in which several big-name websites have either brought their websites down or have prominently displayed anti-SOPA and PIPA messages somewhere on their main pages.

Santa Fe raised their wage, ABQ should, too

Editor, I’ve been following with interest stories about Santa Fe’s upcoming minimum wage hike. The minimum wage is $9.85 an hour and in 2012 it’s poised to increase to somewhere between $10.22 and $10.32 an hour. I think this is great.

Pat Robertson’s divine connection suspicious

Editor, I find it fascinating that Pat Robertson claims to be having conversations with God. Robertson claims God told him who is going to win the election this year and become the next President of the United States.
