Smoking ban needs to be enforced for others’ health

Editor, Since the Lobo has been discussing the issue of smoking on campus recently, I wanted to bring up a few additional points. First, smokers are not respecting the “no smoking on campus” policy. There are plenty of smokers lighting up cigarettes as they are walking to class, walking along Smith Plaza, and standing outside their dorms — all in non-smoking spots. Second, there is no reprimand for a smoker breaking the non-smoking policy.

Editor, The debate involving the observance of Veterans Day is absurd and irrational. Honoring our veterans, on their day of national recognition, is a simple way we can give back to the brave men and women who have served and are currently serving our military.

H1N1 kills, consider health of others before sneezing

Editor, I cringe every time someone sneezes. I sit anywhere — in class, the commons in Dane Smith, even outside on this gorgeous campus — and it always seems that all around me people are sneezing and coughing, causing their germs to spread throughout the area. As a general rule of thumb in a closed room, like a classroom, those germs are still prevalent within the air that we, your classmates, breath.

History misremembered in recent article on GPSA

Editor, In the article about the GPSA on Tuesday, the Daily Lobo reported, “As a result of protests and chaos … a number of people were injured and the New Mexico National Guard was called in, he said.” This implies that the events occurred in the following order: protests and chaos, then people were injured, then the National Guard was called in.
