North Golf Course plans in question

Staff Report UNM shied away from possible plans to develop the North Golf Course on Tuesday. The University will not pay back its institutional bond with funds that could be generated if the course is developed. It was taken off, because the University needs input from the community before it looks at what could be built there, UNM President David Schmidly said.

Climate change letter was intended to incite conflict

Editor, I would like to commend Dennis Kinzler on one of the finest examples of trolling I have ever seen in the Daily Lobo. For those who don't know the term "trolling," it refers to the practice of posting an intentionally incendiary missive to an Internet message board in order to provoke a hostile response.

Casual definition of 'theory' doesn't apply to evolution

Editor, I take exception to Donald Gluck's use of the word "theory" in his letter published in the Daily Lobo on Tuesday. He states that "evolution, a theory, which among other complexities . does not warrant 'an incredibly high probability of being correct.

Treating scientific claims as opinion means trouble

Editor, I am greatly offended by the blatant ignorance of Dennis Kinzler's two letters. Both of them represent a dangerous distortion of scientific evidence and reasoning that threatens not just the legitimacy of scientific pursuit in the eyes of the public, but also the ability of people to recognize legitimate scientific warnings and respond appropriately.

Editor, Richard Berthold, in his column published in the Daily Lobo on Friday, begins with, "Like Darwinian evolution, the idea that the Earth circles the sun is just a theory. But like evolution, it is a theory with an incredibly high probability of being correct .

Rise in sea level would not create higher, drier coasts

Editor, OK, so the ignorance of equating Darwin's writing to the Bible and Quran while also denigrating Islam made Dennis Kinzler's ideas out to be the ranting of a fool. But in Monday's Daily Lobo, he outdid himself. I'm not sure what NASA reports he looked at, but a casual Google search confirmed that NASA - I was looking at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, which may be the source of confusion - has, among other articles, one titled "Arctic Ice Meltdown Continues With Significantly Reduced Winter Ice Cover.

Susan Dynner was a band photographer in Washington, D.C., when she was 15 years old. Dynner has photographed punk rockers since the '80s and built up a friend base with band members from GBH, U.K. Subs and Minor Threat, which came in handy when she decided to direct, produce and shoot a documentary about the last 25 years of punk rock.
