Column: Middle East conflict distorted by U.S.

In a telling statement on Friday, U.S. Ambassador John Bolton urged "all parties" in the escalating conflict in the Middle East to "accept the principle that governments must exercise sovereign control over their territories." If only U.S. and Israeli leaders adhered to their own pronouncements, the Middle East would not be facing its biggest disaster in a quarter century.

Letter: University must consider students' dollars limited

UNM has done it again - screwing over its students in the name of profit. Every other lot has been restricted to certain minority groups of students, with the rest of us left to scramble for alternatives.

Parking fines rise across campus

Some students are upset about a new parking permit and fine increase that went into effect July 10. Julie Rannou was one of them. "I'm just kind of outraged because the University isn't offering better services, but prices are always going up," she said. "It's hard for students who work on a budget. If the prices went up $2 or $3 that would be OK, but $25 is kind of steep."

Basketball tickets will be cheaper for students

UNM announced Wednesday that there are several ticket changes for the 19-game men's basketball 2006-07 season. Those changes include a drop in student ticket prices. Student tickets are now $5 per game and $75 per season. That's $29 less per season than last year. Students can buy up to two guest passes for $150 each - a $58 decrease from last year's price of $208. Last year, students could only buy one guest pass.
