UNM is now investing nearly $82 million in utility and construction projects across campus. However, University officials say the end is near for many of those on-going campus projects, eliminating the orange flags, heavy construction equipment and safety barricades that have become an-all-too familiar sight for the UNM community.

The Intel Corp. announced Friday that it is donating $17.5 million worth of computer manufacturing equipment to Next Generation Economy Inc., an Albuquerque economic-development group. A portion of the donated equipment will soon be set up at UNM’s Manufacturing Training and Technology Center.

A student-athlete in every sense, Heidbrink is the No. 3 singles tennis player on the UNM women's team and a senator for ASUNM. The Manhattan Beach, Calif., native, who is pursuing a double major in political science and philosophy, said she first picked up a tennis racket at the age of eight.
Staff Report University of New Mexico athletes are getting smarter -- or at least their cumulative grade-point average is getting better. For the first time, Lobo athletes combined for a GPA of more than 3.0, with a 3.03 in the fall 2002 semester. This marks the highest GPA since the University began tracking student-athletes in the fall of 1988.

After a lengthy trip away from home, the 63rd-ranked UNM men's tennis team returns to the Lobo Tennis Club this weekend to face 58th-ranked Texas Tech University and Illinois State University. The last time the Lobos were home, they were undefeated on the season while mercilessly pounding the University of Northern Arizona and San Francisco University, posting a perfect 2-0 record.
Several organizations from campus and the Albuquerque community celebrated the holiday of the heart by focusing on its health during a national Heart Health Day celebration at UNM Thursday. UNM looks to avenge its overtime loss to the University of Wyoming from one month ago this weekend. Remember back to Jan. 13. The Lobo men's basketball team had dropped six of eight games. The team was on the verge of a catastrophic meltdown after being humiliated on national television by head coach Ritchie McKay's former team, Colorado State University.

A UNM Health Sciences Center administrator has been selected by Attorney General John Ashcroft to be on a 20-member national committee that identifies solutions for domestic violence. Pamela Galbraith, administrator of the Behavioral Health Hospitals and Programs at UNM's Health Science Center, accepted the nomination to be on the U.
Editor, I hope I am not the only person who is offended by George Bush's self-righteous indignation when he asserts that Saddam Hussein is using the people of Iraq as human shields -- treating them as expendable. This is an interesting statement coming from the spokesperson of a regime that is directly responsible for the deaths of over a half million Iraqi civilians, most of whom are children, resulting from the sanctions placed upon Iraq over ten years ago.
Staff Report Reg. Larry Willard said that the presidential search committee is continuing to narrow down its list of candidates for the next president of the University. The committee met Thursday in a nearly three-hour long closed session and Willard said that there are still about 80 candidates.
