Roybal elected president

Jaymie Roybal is the ASUNM president for the 2011-12 school year. Roybal, who ran on the Now slate, received 883 votes in the Wednesday’s election, 62 more than her opponent, Tim Mousseau, who ran on the New Day slate.

VP enrollment lands job in Cleveland

Carmen Alvarez-Brown is leaving the University to accept a vice president position at Cleveland State University. Brown begins her employment July 1, Cleveland State announced in a news release Wednesday.

Grand showdown by the Rio

The New Mexico State softball team won the battle, but UNM won the war. In the series finale of the Rio Grande Rivalry, the Aggies took a 6-0 decision from the Lobos on Tuesday at Lobo Field. But it was UNM who came out victorious.

Promising batter looks for luck

Mitchell Garver has seen the good times, and now he’s living through the bad times. As All-American candidate Rafael Neda’s backup, Garver played on one of the best teams in UNM baseball history in 2010, a squad that made the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1962.

UNM’s choral program commissioned a piece on death to celebrate its 100 years of life. About a year ago, UNM Choral Activities Director Brad Ellingboe approached world-renowned composer Rene Clausen to request a piece to celebrate the program’s centennial.
