Engineers redesign racecar

UNM’s Formula Society of Automotive Engineers team has designed and built a racecar that accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4 seconds. Systems Engineer Devin Plagge said the team, LOBOmotorsports, will compete in a four-day competition in Lincoln, Neb.

Students can now earn discounts at restaurants and on merchandise for recycling used bottles. The PepsiCo Dream Machine kiosks, located in the SUB, Johnson Gym and La Posada, reward students with points for recycling bottles and aluminum cans.

Alums create game, give some profits to fight cancer

Two former UNM students created an app that has the ability to both entertain and save lives. Brother-sister duo Stephanie Balderrama and Robert Castillo, creators of “Adventures of Marvin and Mel: Word Rescue” are donating 15 percent of net proceeds earned from the game’s sale in the App Store to the American Cancer Society for the first year that it is on sale.
