The fair will be in the SUB Ballroom B from 1 to 4 p.m. Jerra Gonzales, president of UNM's Public Relations Student Society of America, said newspapers, broadcast stations, and advertising and public relations firms will offer students internships and job opportunities.
German company opens plant for solar equipment ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - A German company broke ground Monday on a plant here that will manufacture solar equipment, and state and local officials are looking to the venture to help make New Mexico a leader in the renewable energy industry.

The associate vice president of Student Life recommended that UNM not renew its contract with Aramark. Walter Miller said no decision has been made on which company will receive the new contract. But he said he will not recommend Aramark. The Board of Regents will make a final decision on the contract at its March 12 meeting.
Gov. Richardson not sure if he'll make endorsement SANTA FE (AP) - Gov. Bill Richardson remains undecided on whether to make an endorsement in the Democratic presidential race, but said Sunday the party needed to unify behind a nominee to avoid a protracted and negative campaign.
Students, staff, faculty and administrators met in the SUB on Friday to talk about the budget for the 2008-09 fiscal year. President David Schmidly said this year's budget will include about $1.8 billion. "We don't get all of our money from the state of New Mexico," he said.

The budget, which will go into effect on July 1, will be presented to the Board of Regents at its March 12 meeting. President David Schmidly said the goal of the summit is to discuss the recommendations of UNM's main constituencies: Associated Students of UNM, Graduate and Professional Student Association, Faculty Senate, Dean's Council and Staff Council.

The historic Golden West Saloon caught fire at around 6 a.m. Thursday. Investigators have yet to determine the cause. UNM will celebrate its 119th birthday today. Lobo Day festivities, which celebrate UNM's founding on Feb. 28, 1889, will take place in the SUB from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cate Wisdom, executive director of ASUNM's Lobo Spirit, said the festivities will resemble a birthday party.

Richardson blocks access to unapproved bingo parlor SANTA FE (AP) - Gov. Bill Richardson ordered state police to block access to a high-stakes bingo parlor built in southern New Mexico by Oklahoma's Fort Sill Apache Tribe. Richardson said he had to take action after receiving no assurances from the federal government that it would either approve or reject the tribe's plans for a gaming operation.
Hobbs firefighters monitor remnants of grass blaze HOBBS (AP) - Firefighters on Tuesday monitored the remnants of a grass fire that burned more than 10,000 acres and threatened about 100 homes and businesses west of this southeastern New Mexico city. The blaze was contained late Monday, but fire crews were putting out hot spots until about 1 a.
