Candidate explains UNM goals

UNM presidential candidate Edward John Ray said all the essential ingredients needed to make the University nationally competitive are in place, the only thing missing is a president to bring them all together. Ray, who began a two-day visit to UNM Monday in order to become acclimated with the concerns of the community and the issues that exist on campus, spoke to a crowd of less than 10 people about the similarities between UNM and Ohio State University, where he is the executive vice president, provost and a professor of economics.

College paper shut down for printing profanity

Branch director down to 4 finalists

Staff Report After a nationwide, five-month search that attracted more than 50 applicants, UNM Provost Brian Foster announced on April 8 a list of four finalists for the UNM-Gallup branch executive director position. "The search committee worked well together and, along with the national advertising campaign, put together a good pool," UNM Deputy Provost Richard Holder said.

A UNM alumnus who started his own successful business consulting famous NFL coaches and players advised UNM students Monday how to create a successful career. Todd Greene, who is the founder of the Todd Greene Agency, an international sports speaker's bureau and graduate of the Communication and Journalism Department, gave advice and fielded questions regarding careers in communications and business during a conference call in one of the department's Business and Professional Speaking class Monday.

Survey to weigh N.M. opinion on Iraqi war

Officials at the Institute for Public Policy at UNM expect to have the results of a survey they are conducting regarding New Mexicans' opinions of the war in Iraq within a week. "We are looking for New Mexicans' point of view toward the war," said Amelia Rouse, deputy director of the institute.

SUB to officially open this summer

UNM administrators have named the restaurants that will fill the SUB, as well as the project's new completion date of July 1 - one that administrators say they are confident will be met. Walt Miller, associate vice president of UNM Student Development, said the eight SUB eateries will offer a variety of food including everything from the super healthy to french fries and hamburgers.

Kugler grabs president's seat in GPSA after 2nd try

Experts focus on global warming

A conference featuring presentations by some UNM professors and focusing on local climate change and public perception of it will make its way to campus and the surrounding community this weekend, starting tonight. The second annual conference on global warming, "Heating Up: Coming to Terms with Climate Change in New Mexico," will run through Sunday and attempt to translate the scientific topic into public terms with a diversity of experts and activities.
