Lobos pummel Panthers

Just 48 hours after losing a heart-wrenching game at the Air Force Academy, the UNM men's basketball team returned home to a raucous Pit crowd last night and displayed an equally raucous effort in deposing Georgia State University 91-78 in a non-conference game.

Over the years The Pit has been known as a place opponents feared, but Saturday night the Brigham Young University women’s basketball team showed no fear in beating UNM 79-72 in a key Mountain West Conference game.

Lobo teams to play BYU

Both of UNM’s basketball teams will see action this weekend, as the men hit the road for a 4 p.m. game against Brigham Young University Saturday, while the women also entertain BYU in The Pit Saturday at 7 p.m.

Spahn proud of team as season nears end

The UNM swimming and diving team's season ended this weekend, with only the Mountain West Conference Championships Feb. 14-17 in Oklahoma City, Okla., remaining. Coach Bill Spahn said the conference championship is the most important meet of the year and the team will take 17 swimmers and two divers to the meet with the hope that some will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.
