UNM grad goes Hollywood

There are no guarantees that you'll get a job after college or even grad school, but if you work hard, meet the right people and "accidentally be in the right place at the right time," you'll achieve anything. At least, that's what Christopher Painter insists.

LETTER: Once elected, officials not allowed to run free

Editor, Noam Chomsky has remarked before that the citizens of the United States are expected to show up at the polls every four years, cast their ballot, then go home and shut up. Nowhere is this illustrated more clearly than in the comments of Sari Krosinsky and U.

Figures indicate student lots oversold

Despite assurances that the Parking and Transportation Services Department takes every precaution to ensure a fair parking situation on campus, official numbers show that the department oversells permits for a number of UNM parking lots. Clovis Acosta, director of the department, said that while parking at UNM has always been tight, officials physically count the number of parking spots needed in a given semester.

COLUMN: OK, so don't follow leaders

by Sari Krosinsky Daily Lobo columnist It appears my column last week requires some explanation. So here it is: I was being sarcastic. That being said, I'm glad people who took that column literally were angry. You should be angry. Not just because some schmuck is telling you to follow the leader, but because that is what the purpose of government actually is.

Lobo upset in Pit boosts team's spirit

by Michael Beniash Daily Lobo With their backs against the ropes and lingering thoughts of a 0-3 conference start, the UNM men's basketball team defied the odds and upset San Diego State University in a 66-62 thriller at The Pit. Led by a stingy defensive effort from the entire team, timely shooting by junior guard Javin Tindall and a little luck in their corner, the Lobos outlasted the hot shooting of the Aztecs.

LETTER: Park column lacks empathy for poor

Editor, Eric Howerton's article "Police useless in Roosevelt" left me saddened over his obvious lack of empathy for homeless people. Is valuing a free game of Frisbee golf over the safety, health and well being of Albuquerque citizens the way UNM affiliates want to be portrayed? I, for one, do not.
