Atmosphere has truly exploded in the larger corners of the indie hip-hop scene, but also has made its way to people who are unlikely to listen to any rap or hip-hop at all.

EDITORIAL: Do your duty: Vote

Ah, the mudslinging is in full swing. Nothing beats election year - any election year. Perhaps it's the media's predilection toward covering the most contentious races; perhaps it's the candidates stuffing campaign material on people's doors; perhaps it's even the falsely sincere handshaking, baby-kissing political appearances where the candidates all wear fake smiles and somehow seem to say nothing.

COLUMN:Democratic despots real

by Leah Caldwell U-Wire Hamid Karzai is such a hunk. There's no doubt about it, this post-Taliban leader has the beauty and the brains to make Afghanistan the country that it could never be under the Taliban. This conclusion, among others, was the product of a 16-paragraph article in The New York Times that reduced the plight of Afghan women to the distressing decision of what color burka to wear.

An opportunity lost

Texas Tech University Heisman-candidate quarterback Kliff Kingsbury picked apart the UNM defense, throwing for 407 yards and six touchdowns in the Red Raiders 49-0 defeat of the Lobos.
