Connect wins ASUNM vote

Rachel Williams on Wednesday night won the presidency of the Associated Students of New Mexico. Williams, who ran with the Connect ASUNM slate, received 940 out of the 2,303 ballots cast on election day. She snagged the presidency from Forward UNM’s Isaac Romero, who garnered 742 votes, and Team You’s Colt Balok, who garnered 481 votes.

Helicopter crashes on roof of UNMH

After sustaining injuries following a helicopter crash on the roof of UNM Hospital Wednesday evening, the aircraft’s pilot is now in stable condition. UNM Executive Director of Communications Billy Sparks said at a press conference that evening that the helicopter had dropped off a patient and was departing at approximately 5:45 p.m. when it crashed.

Updated: Helicopter crashes on UNMH roof

The pilot of a helicopter that crashed on top of UNM Hospital Wednesday afternoon is being inspected for possible injuries. UNMH Executive Director of Communication Billy Sparks said emergency care specialists are inspecting “possible injuries” to the pilot of the helicopter, which crashed at about 6 p.m.

Rep. Vance McAllister, R-Swartz, was home with his family in Louisiana this week after a video was released of him kissing his scheduler, Melissa Peacock, according to the Times-Picayune. Peacock resigned her post on Monday after the video was published earlier that day.

On March 31, UNMPD was dispatched to 2600 Marble Ave. NE in reference to a battery that had occurred that afternoon. Upon arrival, the officer met with the male victim, who at the time was unable to give a clear statement because he was reportedly distressed about the police presence.

Besides choosing the Associated Students of the University of New Mexico’s president, undergraduate students will get to elect a vice president today. Voters will also be able to select 10 of 35 senatorial candidates from three different slates.


	The New Mexico ski team placed third at this year’s NCAA National Championships in Utah, continuing a string of strong seasons for the program.

NM Legislature approves recreation funds

UNM students living in the residence halls could expect enhanced recreation amenities by the fall semester. The Associated Students of the University of New Mexico is in the process of finding a contractor to renovate the northern segment of Johnson Field that borders Casas del Rio and Coronado Hall.
