Wing reveals her 'Tale of Eternity'

UNM painter Juliet Wing says that the title for her new exhibition, "Tale of an Eternity," came directly out of a dream she had. That particular dream has played a substantial role in the development of Wing's autobiographical artwork over the past year and a half.

Movie serves N.M. waitresses

The Santa Fe Film Festival sponsored a special premiere of "American Waitress, New Mexico" by Backseat Productions, Saturday at the Guild Cinema. Audience members waited in lines that stretched down the block for the film's anticipated opening. The screening was a benefit to raise funds for and promote the Santa Fe Film Festival.

'Joshua' innocuous but amateurish

"Joshua" is a new film that is running for a limited time in Albuquerque. The film stars Tony Goldwyn, best known for his role in "Ghost," as the title character. It also casts in supporting roles F. Murray Abraham, who won an Oscar for his performance in "Amadeus," and Kurt Fuller, who has appeared in such films as "Scary Movie" and "Wayne's World."

When you get a craving for live music, nothing is more satisfying than immersing yourself in the loud, dreamy darkness of a good show. It is even more satisfying when you find that good show produced by local talent. The experience of connecting to your community seems to reinforce every tone soaring from the stage.

Polaroid exhibit surprisingly creative

American physicist Edwin Land introduced the revolutionary process of instant photography to the world in 1947. The history of this process and the evolution that eventually formed the Polaroid Corporation is examined in a framed introduction exhibited in Innovation/Imagination: 50 Years of Polaroid Photography, which is showing at the University Art Museum in the Center for the Arts building.

Souls to bounce at Launchpad

"Hey, this sounds like punk rock," smirks a sarcastic friend of mine, as the latest CD by the Bouncing Souls, How I Spent My Summer Vacation, spins in the back of my room. Yes, indeed. What my friend means is that the album, the band's sixth, sounds pretty much like any other punk rock CD we could have thrown into the stereo.
