UNM student stabbed, killed at local party

Staff Report

UNM student Andres Arguello was stabbed to death Saturday at a party in the University area.

Cousins Christopher Jaramillo and Valentino Jaramillo are being held in relation to the crimes, according the Albuquerque Police Department. Valentino Jaramillo is accused of stabbing Arguello in the chest. Christopher Jaramillo is suspected of stabbing three others at the party and pistol-whipping another victim.

The incident occurred on the 200 block of Harvard SE at a house Arguello had recently moved into.

APD detective Doug Shawn said the violence stemmed from a fight over a cup of beer inside the house. Shawn said that Arguello was apparently attempting to quell the fight when he was fatally stabbed. A separate fight occurred in front of the house involving the Jaramillos where the other stabbings occurred.

Officers arrested Christopher Jaramillo at the scene and later apprehended Valentino Jaramillo at the cousins' apartment.
