Ballon Fiesta cancelled due to morning winds
ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - There was not a cloud in the sky. Nor a balloon.
Windy conditions Monday morning prompted officials at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta to postpone the day's events, said fiesta spokeswoman Kathie Leyendecker.
"The wind at the ground level was a little iffy," she said.
Leyendecker said quite a few people had turned out to see the start of the New Mexico Challenge, a long distance race for hot air balloons. That race and two other planned flying competitions were rescheduled for Tuesday morning.
