Editor,
I am writing in response to Matt Duran's letter, "Creationists push their outdated views on people," in Tuesday's issue of the Daily Lobo.
I just have to ask, what started everything? What was the trigger for the beginning of the universe? I don't mean the Big Bang - I mean what was the final catalyst that set the entire state of existence into motion?
I have studied science for many years and have received no explanation, just a bunch of different opinions and theories as to what the beginning was or could have been. In my experience, as a Christian who believes in creation and science, it takes the same amount of faith to believe in a God that we can't see as it does in a bunch of theories that we can't prove.
So before you go telling us creationists that we are narrow-minded and are setting back education, explain what makes all the evolutionists out there right. What gives the evolutionists the right to push their beliefs and discredit others so quickly - isn't that exactly what you are saying that the creationists out there are doing?
I do believe there need to be some rules and regulations about what we are allowed to teach our children in our schools, but I believe there is a way that a conclusion can be made without pointing fingers or saying one is wrong and the other is right.
