Editor,
At the fifth anniversary of the worst terrorist attack our nation has ever experienced, we must ask ourselves whether or not we believe that our nation is headed in the right direction, and if the decisions that our president and the Republican Congress have made are the best for us and our children.
Two wars later, with billions of dollars down the drain and thousands of soldiers and innocent civilians dead, we have entered into a chaotic state in which there is no turning back.
On Tuesday, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann made clear the advantage our government took of the American people to begin these wars: "The documented truths of the last 15 years are replaced by bald-faced lies; the talking points of the current regime parroted; the whole, sorry story blurred by spin to make the party out of office seem vacillating and impotent, and the party in office seem like the only option. How dare you, Mr. President, after taking cynical advantage of the unanimity and love and transmuting it into fraudulent war and needless death ... after monstrously transforming it into fear and suspicion and turning that fear into the campaign slogan of three elections ... how dare you or those around you ... ever spin 9/11."
For anyone who is as angry about the unwarranted deaths and the ignorance, we can all say thank you to Olbermann for making clear the sentiment we share for our president and our Congress. I ask that all of you rise up for what you believe in and help us to take back our Congress this November. Help us take out our Republican rubber stamp of a representative, Heather Wilson, and replace her with a voice of change and a voice of hope for New Mexico, our country and our future. Replace her with Patricia Madrid, an earnest woman who understands the peril of our nation and the importance of fixing and mending what the Republicans have ruined.
Sept. 11, 2001, might have changed our nation, but it should never change the way we feel about our country. I simply ask you to remember what we are as a nation and stand up for what you believe to be the right direction for this country.

On Nov. 7 show this nation how much we have not forgotten, and show it how ready we are for a change - now more than ever.
