Instead of a war czar, U.S. should seek a peacemaker

Editor,

A Bush administration official told CNN recently that White House aides, with President Bush's blessing, are actively trying to hire a new point person to help pilot the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"There's an urgency to get this done," the official said, referring to the administration's new security plan for Iraq. "Implementation and execution are critical now."

The war czar would report directly to Bush with the power to tell cabinet secretaries what to do.

So, the Bush administration, in Washington, D.C., is seeking a new czar of war.

I seek an administration in Washington, D.C., that is seeking a proponent of peace of the compassion-for-all variety, who will report directly to the president and have the power to tell cabinet secretaries what to do.

May the arrival of that administration come before the extinction of our species occurs, with us as the cause.
