Editor,
Flowers are blooming, the days are longer, and I'm spending less time in class and more time at the Duck Pond. You know what that means: Spring is here. But it also means that Spring Storm is coming up. I challenge the students, faculty and staff of UNM to
sign up.
Why? Service work is a civic duty. Community service is a duty that all citizens share - even if it is not assigned to us in a court of law. It is absolutely our responsibility to positively contribute to the communities that play such an active role in shaping us.
Additionally, we have to give back to those that need it, in order to foster our human relationships. I sincerely believe that if an underprivileged child picks up a book, if we make one child at UNM Hospital smile for a day, or if one family does not go hungry for a night, Spring Storm is truly a success.
We can never be fully aware of how the most minute actions can impact someone's life, but I do know that for a few hours on April 21, 1,200 citizens and I have an opportunity to help one another.
