Religion should not be used to explain the natural world

Editor,

History has taught us that religion is not the authority we should grasp to explain natural phenomena we do not understand. The faithful once threatened a person's life if he spoke in opposition to the geocentric model of the universe. Science proved the faithful wrong, and now we know the Earth orbits the sun.

Gravity is also a theory that specifically refers to a force all massive objects are theorized to exert on each other to cause gravitation. If you do not believe one theory developed using the scientific method, then logically you should not believe any other theory that uses the same method. If science is wrong when it explains the adaptation of species, then it is wrong when it explains the fate of any individual who chooses to test what the theory of gravity predicts. Those who use religion as a basis to discredit the theory of evolution should accept my challenge. Walk as the lemurs do off a cliff to prove the theory of gravity has no place in the classroom. Gravity is merely a theory that a story in the Bible might contradict depending on interpretation. Remember, Jesus walked on water, and this action dispels the notion of gravity. My interpretation of this story - people are not massive objects.
