Staff Report
The Lobo Conservatives will host an event tonight to commemorate the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Stephen Dinkel, president of the Lobo Conservatives, said students should gather to remember the lives lost seven years ago.
"We want to remember the victims that were lost," Dinkel said. "Party affiliation aside, this is an American issue."
The group is working with the Young America's Foundation to organize the memorial, which is part of project "9/11: Never Forget."
YAF, a nonprofit organization, started the project in 2003 to encourage colleges across the country to have a 9/11 memorial, Dinkel said.

Lee Drake, co-chair of the College Democrats, said everyone should take time to remember 9/11.
He said his group is not holding its own event because 9/11 is not a party issue.
"I commend the Lobo Conservatives for doing this event," Drake said.
There will be a reading from YAF and a moment of silence at the event, Dinkel said.
He said he is not aware of other memorial events happening on campus.
Though the event is sponsored by the Lobo Conservatives, Dinkel encourages everyone to attend, regardless of party affiliation.
