Editor,
I thought Chuck Hoskins' praise to Don Schrader is absolutely ridiculous. Don Schrader is an overtly gay man who contributes nothing to our society, who intently lives below the U.S. poverty level so he doesn't have to pay taxes to Uncle Sam. He has no medical insurance for himself and walks around 80 percent naked when the weather allows him to do so.
This is what Hoskins calls "responsible global citizenship"? I've seen Schrader several times in some of our UNM libraries reading a newspaper. Paper industries are some of the worst environmental offenders on Earth, so I would dare to say that newspapers are actually more of an environmental toxin than computers.
If we all decided to follow Schrader's controversial lifestyle, we would be living a very primitive lifestyle like our pre-historic ancestors. There would be no academic infrastructure, no infrastructure for public transportation and no government. I'm actually embarrassed and ashamed that Schrader is a so-called "Albuquerque fixture." I cannot imagine why any sane person would want to emulate or applaud his hypocritical lifestyle.
