Student, not Afghan group, deserves criticism for actions

Editor,

I wrote the letter published last week on the previous Sunday thinking certain things had happened, and I was harsh with the Afghan student group and OIPS. Monday, I talked to Stephanie at OIPS, and she investigated the matter. I had jumped to a wrong conclusion based on the disturbing things that were said.

What happened is that these statements were made at the table, but not by Nawid Farhad, the president of the Afghan Students Association. It was made by some of the others who had gathered at his table, not by Afghani students. Nawid had requested to move for other reasons before this happened, so he didn't move in protest of the Israel table, and of course OIPS wasn't aware of anything like that.

I apologize for blaming the Afghan students and OIPS wrongly, and I apologize for being hasty about writing a public letter. I should have waited and talked to them first. I'm not sorry for my bad opinion about the person who actually said those things. Transfer my criticism to that person. The Afghani students and OIPS didn't deserve it.
