Editor,
I recently visited the UNM campus and discovered a large mural down in the basement of the Student Union Building. I was a bit discouraged that I wasn’t able to view it in its entirety. I always had the impression that a mural of this magnitude is supposed to be in open space so the viewer can appreciate it as a whole, instead of looking at it in sections.
Is this a form of disrespect and discrimination on behalf of the University, or simply a dishonorable way of showing a rich New Mexico culture that deserves respect? I tend to think so. What can be done to correct this matter, or is there any way to move it to a different location? It does deserve attention.
