UNMPD chases stolen vehicle
On Tuesday, Dec. 23, UNMPD was dispatched to the UNM Student Health Center on Cornell Drive in reference to a stolen delivery van. According to the report, the attending officer observed a van matching the description of the stolen vehicle headed eastbound on Central Avenue from University Boulevard. After checking the license plate with UNMPD, the officer activated his emergency lights and pursued the van. The suspect accelerated and ran a stop sign at the intersection of University Boulevard and Ash Street. After the suspect ran a red light at Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and sped down University Boulevard, the officer stopped his pursuit and lost sight of the van as the suspect turned west onto Lead Avenue. Hours later, UNMPD was notified that the stolen vehicle was recovered by the Albuquerque Police Department.
UNMPD tires punctured
On Wednesday, Dec. 31, UNMPD noticed a police vehicle with a flat tire. Upon further inspection, two other police vehicles were found to have a flat tire, all with a small puncture in the side wall. The incident occurred between 7 p.m. on Dec. 30 and 6 a.m. on Dec. 31. All three vehicles were parked near each other at the UNMPD parking lot. There are currently no suspects.
Indecent exposure and graffiti at Casa Del Rio
On Friday, Jan. 2, UNMPD was dispatched to the Casas Del Rio dorms in reference to indecent exposure and graffiti. According to the report, video surveillance showed two suspects enter an elevator in the Chama building on Jan. 1 at about 3 a.m. The first suspect entered the elevator and began spray-painting the interior. The second suspect entered a few seconds later and pulled down his pants, exposing himself while looking into the surveillance camera. Photos of the suspects will be circulated around UNM and Casas Del Rio. Anyone with information is asked to contact UNMPD.
Auto burglary at A Lot
On Saturday, Jan. 3, UNMPD was dispatched to A Lot in reference to auto burglary. According to the report, the victim parked his car at A Lot north of Johnson Field at about 11 a.m. to attend a basketball game. When he returned at about 1:30 p.m., he noticed his wife’s denim purse had been taken from his vehicle. There was no damage done to the vehicle and no suspects.
Car stolen from M Lot
On Tuesday, Jan. 6, UNMPD was dispatched to M Lot in reference to unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. According to the report, an employee of UNM School of Medicine parked her car at M Lot at about 7:30 a.m. When she returned at about 4 p.m. her black Chevy Trailblazer was gone. The Trailblazer has gold colored trim and a white “Chevy” emblem on the back. There are no suspects.
