Editor,
How would we feel if another nation overthrew our government and installed a brutal dictator who murdered and tortured many of us? The C.I.A. overthrew the government of Iran in 1953 and installed the brutal Shah. His secret police murdered up to 60,000 Iranians and tortured many more. President Carter preached human rights, but Carter hypocritically called the Shah “our best friend in the Middle East.”
Why? U.S. greed for Iran’s oil. Huge U.S. profits from selling weapons to the Shah. Never has the U.S. apologized to the people of Iran.
I strongly oppose ALL nuclear bombs in ALL nations. The U.S. has thousands of nuclear bombs. The U.S. is the only nation that has atom bombed cities. Israel has many nuclear bombs. What if Iran and all the world’s small nations would demand that the U.S., Russia and Israel get rid of all nuclear bombs? Who gives the U.S. the right to dictate to the world, “Do as we say not as we do.” If we were most people in the world’s small nations, would we trust the U.S. government?
The main goal worldwide of the U.S. government, sadly, is grabbing more wealth, resources and cheap labor by any means necessary – regardless of how many millions of people are robbed, starved, tortured, imprisoned and murdered. The main goal worldwide of the U.S. government, sadly, is not now and never has been genuine democracy, freedom, justice and human rights. The U.S. government deliberately targets Chicano, Black and Native youth – seducing and recruiting them to go kill low-income people of color abroad.
Families of color here become blood invested in evil U.S. wars because of their beloved sons and daughters who are soldiers. Love for their soldier sons and daughters in danger often blinds these families and keeps them from strongly protesting U.S. wars. All of this is intentional by the U.S. government to divide people here from people abroad. Divide and conquer!
Sincerely,
Don Schrader
