Monday on the Street: Thoughts on President Trump

What do you think when you hear the words President Trump?

Richard Orlando, graduate student, non-degree

“I think catastrophe, because I think he’s absolutely wrong for the country at this time. I think he’s wrong for globe at this time, I think he’s wrong for society at this time. His environmental policies are really going to be catastrophic. The social and economic policies will set us back 80 years.”

Dale Snider, freshman, psychology

“I’m a little bit worried, but at the same time we could’ve done worse. I’m not saying any of the other choices were worse, and he might not be that bad. I’m not optimistic about people, but at the same time, it’s what you do on the individual level that really gives life meaning. It’s not what you agree on with other people; it’s what you think about at the end of the day when you’re alone.”

Stephanie Guthrie, senior, special education

“Scary, confusion, let-down. I can’t really see the future with him in it, I don’t know where everyone stands. Everything that’s going on around campus, it’s kind of scary, (like) that email (from UNM President Bob Frank) we got the other day, and I feel like the violence is going to get worse. But then they always say everything gets worse before it gets better. I’m kind of hopeful; hopefully he can make a change like he says.”
