This year's Come Out show was more than just a masquerade. "We try to educate people," said P.J. Sedillo, MC of the show and a UNM student. "We all have masks that we need to take off and reveal. That's what the performers do. They are who they are."

Anticipated movies to close gay film fest

This year's Southwest Gay and Lesbian Film Festival has been a success, said Roberto Appicciafoco, the festival's curator. "We sold out all of the screenings on opening day," he said. "We're the fastest-growing film festival in the region."

The paintings, crosses, tiles and folk dÇcor that cover the Aztec Motel are an inspiration to Jae Whitehorse. "I'm very visual," said Whitehorse, an artist and resident at the motel. "I never thought of doing anything like this on the outside of the building. Everything is always on the inside."

Exhibit fuses science with art

An exhibition at the University Art Museum is giving scientists the opportunity to display their art. "This is all about people from fields that are traditionally at opposite poles, but they intersect around observation," said Sara Otto-Diniz, curator of "Art and Science/Observation and Imagination."

Pianist finds home performing at UNM

For UNM graduate student and pianist Makiko Kimura, the past year has been a disaster and a success. Kimura transferred to UNM from Loyola University in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She is a winner of the UNM 2006 Music Department Concerto Competition. Tonight, she will perform with the UNM Orchestra in its first concert of the season.

Before I went to Le French Corner, I expected deliciousness. I wasn't prepared for what I encountered. I have tried many so-called French restaurants, but nothing compares to the savory and sweet dishes this little bakery had. This little find specializes in French fare with an American twist, yet it stays true to French cuisine.
