Collegiates need to stick together to make progress

Editor, Professor Wilcox’s letter should be circulated throughout the nation. As a fiscal, social conservative, there were many times when I was an undergraduate that I wrote in to critique the ruminations of “entitlement” espoused by some in academia.

Need help with tuition or books? Just file your taxes.

Editor, If you’re one of those folks trying to balance a job while getting a college education, filing federal income tax forms probably hasn’t been a huge priority. But there is still time to file, and there are several reasons students should file, even if they owe no income tax. As part of the federal stimulus bill enacted in 2009, Congress passed the American Opportunity Credit (AOC) for the 2009-10 tax years.

Spit on your teachers for ruining America’s economy

Editor, When the economy went belly up and millions of people lost their houses and their jobs, you can bet the teachers, their unions and their outrageous pensions were at fault. All the wealth in this country has been ripped off by greedy teachers who are sickly obsessed with their fantasy that people in this great land of ours need to be educated and that these ne’er-do-well educators actually need to be paid to teach their bullshit. What a joke. We have a bunch of these useless-eater teachers right here at Walmart U.

GPSA presidential candidate wants to reform organization

Editor, In running for GPSA president, I have not once referenced the current GPSA president, and the idea that I am running against her is confusing and inaccurate. I decided to run for GPSA president because I believe that GPSA needs more input from the student body.

Be mindful of how you live every moment; save Earth

Editor, If you truly desire happiness, become aware of what is truly happening in each moment. Immerse yourself in that and deal with it as best as you can and leave everything else to whatever is the Source of All That Is. Our species has two choices: 1) Refuse to mature to our potential, continue to divide into warring camps and play the juvenile game of “win/lose,” which makes us all losers and ensures that our species cannot survive.

UNM is not a bargain, despite what administrators tell you

Editor, I’m writing the nearly identical letter to one I wrote several years ago when a previous University president, upon announcing a tuition increase, earnestly commented that ”UNM really is a bargain — cheaper than most of its comparable state universities.” The problem with this statement, repeated over and over again by university administrators, is that New Mexico was, and still is, one of the poorest states in the union with high unemployment levels, even in good times. Furthermore, most of our employed citizens earn less for comparable jobs than their peers in other states.
