Column: Amateurism is just NCAA being greedy

Of all the issues being debated by presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and John McCain, each have yet to discuss a divisive issue among the ranks of the NCAA - amateurism in the NCAA. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept, amateurism is where a player doesn't accept endorsement or earnings of any kind for engaging in sports.

Hernandez brings southern football attitude to Lobos

Chris Hernandez lines up split out to the left in a two-wide-receiver bunch formation. His teammate, cornerback DeAndre Wright, jogs out opposite of him, tip-toeing the line of scrimmage. As the ball is snapped, Wright gives Hernandez a friendly jam, upsetting the timing of Hernadez's slant route and forcing Donovan Porterie to check-down to his running back.

Democrats, Independents must unite to elect Obama

If passionate backers of Clinton stay home on Election Day or, worse yet, vote for McCain, they are endorsing a third term for President Bush.

Praise for 'Dark Knight' is a generational thing

Editor, I thought I'd chime in here as a lost and lonely voice defending some of the older interpretations of Batman in the wake of the fully deserved avalanche of acclaim for the "The Dark Knight." There isn't any doubt that Heath Ledger deserves tons of accolades for his amazing and regrettably final performance in this film, and it is a great Batman movie.
