Lobos Basketball Tournament
Soccer's stingy defense cliches conference title
Steven Fernandez | November 19A scoreless draw may not be the most awe-inspiring way to win a conference championship, but the UNM men's soccer team will take it. The Lobos won their fourth straight Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship after a 0-0 double-overtime tie at Denver on Sunday. With the draw, UNM will advance to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth year in a row.
Voters OK expansion of CNM, UNM campus
Xochitl Campos | November 19In the next few years, students can begin a bachelor's degree at CNM and finish at UNM at a campus in Rio Rancho. "For the first time in Rio Rancho's history, you'll be able to receive a four-year degree in Rio Rancho," CNM spokeswoman Samantha Bousliman said.
AP: Turnovers lead to Lobos' loss
Doug Alden | November 19by Doug Alden The Associated press SALT LAKE CITY - Utah coach Kyle Whittingham felt like he was having flashbacks. The Utes' 14-point lead Saturday against New Mexico had dwindled to four points, and Whittingham was vividly remembering what happened a year ago in Albuquerque.

Brandon Call | November 19The UNM volleyball team concluded its regular season with a 3-0 loss to No. 17 Colorado State on Saturday. The Lobos dropped the match 30-22, 30-27, and 31-29 at Johnson Gym.
Basketball sweeps invitational
Brandon Call | November 19It wasn't the prettiest win for the UNM men's basketball team, but the Lobos managed to pull off an 86-58 win over Loyola Marymount at The Pit on Sunday. UNM won three straight games on the weekend to capture the Basketball Travelers Invitational trophy.
Bin location change hasn't made it harder to recycle
November 19Editor, I'd like to respond to James Connolly's letter published in the Daily Lobo on Thursday about recycling bins and sustainability. It's obvious that Connolly was upset by the changes in the location of recycling bins in Northrop Hall. Yes, the state fire marshal required recycling bins to be removed from the halls, but the recycling department worked diligently with the building coordinator to locate substitute sites to place the bins.
Rabbit dies of anthrax at North Campus lab

Basic research shows that global warming is natural
November 19Editor, After researching global warming, it seems that natural events cause most of it, despite all the fear thrust upon us by professors and the global warming crowd. I have found some interesting studies and articles to prove this point that emanate from scientists.
The University should show respect for pagan holidays
November 19Editor, This letter is addressed to UNM President David Schmidly. My name is Joseph Bell, and I'm a psychology student at UNM. As I understand it, "establishment of goals and policies to guide the University and oversight of the functioning of the University" is a role carried out by your offices.

Environmentalists shouldn't hassle debt-ridden students
November 16Editor, I'm sick and tired of constantly being asked if I have a moment to spare for the environment by people with clipboards who stand around campus all day long. No, I don't have any money for you, so buzz off. Every day, they bombard me, desperately trying to get me to donate money.
Don't look to Bible for history
Richard M. Berthold | November 16by Richard M. Berthold Daily Lobo columnist I have remained out of the ongoing debate on evolution versus intelligent design, because it is simply silly. As Thomas Aquinas discovered, reason and faith are separate orders of truth, and ultimately, neither can budge the other.
Smoking ban debate can be resolved with compromise
November 16Editor, I know many people must be sick and tired of hearing about the possible smoking ban on campus, but I have a few thoughts to share. First of all, I am not a smoker, but I think it would be ridiculous to try to ban smoking on campus. I used to work in a restaurant where many people smoked, and they would go crazy if they didn't get their smoke break.
Lobo to face nation's top runners
Steven Fernandez | November 16Jeremy Johnson probably couldn't ask for a better opportunity to close out his UNM cross country career. Johnson will take on the best the nation has to offer Monday when he competes in the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.
Indian students in danger if accused assaulter released
November 16Editor, I applaud the Daily Lobo for following up on the Indian students assault case. This shows the commitment of the newspaper in ensuring that students on campus are safe and secure. Turan Johnson has accumulated more than 20 court cases against him in the past three years.
Building a name at UNM
November 16At UNM, there are two ways to get a building named after you: work hard for the University or donate a lot of money. The University names parts of campus after people who donate to UNM or provide extraordinary service.
Sports in brief
