Editor, Well, another year has come and gone, and in the most sarcastic way I can muster, I would like to thank those people at UNM who were responsible for our new health care plan. For the first time in my life, I will probably be able to itemize my medical deductions this year because of the terrible insurance plan UNM has provided for its employees.

After taking money from departments over Winter Break, the University is giving it back. However, University and college deans will have to come up with the amount the tax would have generated, but they will have discretion over which accounts are tapped.

Letter: To stop drunken driving, check roads, not parties

Editor, I am familiar with the presence of crime in Albuquerque. Last year, a drunken driver hit me. My car was totaled and the driver fled the scene. The driver was a middle-aged man who could have been caught if road checks were in place that night. This month, my car was stolen while parked on campus.

Take your tykes to school

UNM's Children's Campus received a four-year grant to help keep student parents in school. The grant will give just under a $1 million over the next four years to the Children's Campus. Each year, the grant will be approximately $248,763, according to a summary of the grant.

Regents to discuss Caldera's contract

Rumors UNM President Louis Caldera's days at the University are numbered might be more than speculation. Jamie Koch, president of the UNM Board of Regents, confirmed Monday that Caldera's contract is the only item on the agenda for a regents meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

Web site can show its face again at UNM

by Eva Dameron Daily Lobo Facebook.com is back in business at UNM. After four months of blocked access to the site, students can once again visit the Web site on campus. Moira Gerety, director of CIRT, said CIRT worked with Facebook to make the Web site more secure.

The Lobos extended their winning streak at The Pit to 21 straight, defeating the conference-leading Air Force Academy 62-59 on Saturday night. Editor, The recent subpoena by the Justice Department against Google raises a scary proposition. The claim is that the department wants to curb child pornography and states that the law can do a better job than software filters. First of all, it is up to parents to be responsible and pay for filters.
