Trojans rally to beat UNM 55-48

Staff Report Although the Lobos' women's basketball team stayed on top of the University of Southern California Trojans throughout the entire first half, UNM was defeated 55-48 Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles. The first half of the game was slow paced and the Trojans kept it close.

LETTER: Smoking ban will benefit businesses

Editor, Not only was I a restaurant worker for 10 years, but I smoked for six of those years. Therefore, I feel that I am authority enough to be able to enter the discussion on the proposed smoking ban for restaurants. Additionally, I have not smoked for long enough to support it.

Soccer team moves on in NCAAs

Staff Report The UNM men's soccer team moved on to the second round of NCAA tournament for the second-straight year with a victory over Bradley University 2-1 in Peoria, Ill., Saturday night. The Lobos got on the board first when they were awarded a free kick outside the box in the 34th minute.

Athletes of the week

Senior Jordan Adams of the women's basketball team and Ricky Francis of the men's soccer team are this week's New Mexico Daily Lobo Athletes of the Week. Adams led the team in scoring with 21 points in UNM's 55-48 loss to the University of Southern California.

Fumbled away

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Just eight points separated the UNM football team from a possible Mountain West Conference title and hopes of a Liberty Bowl bid Saturday night. The Lobos beat the Colorado State Rams in almost every statistical category except where it mattered the most -- the scoreboard.

Lobos strong at start, but fade in 76-68 loss to Cal

by Tony Niklinski Daily Lobo The UNM men's basketball team came up empty-handed Friday night at The Pit, as the Lobos were defeated by the University of California 76-68. The California Bears are a solid Pac-10 team, year in and year out. During last year's NCAA Tournament, the Bears went as far the second round before being eliminated by the University of Pittsburgh.

Law School wing gets name

by Ryan Floersheim Daily Lobo One of UNM's most accomplished professors will be honored today for his contributions to the School of Law by having a new wing of the school named after him in a ceremony. Former School of Law Dean Frederick Hart, best known for his efforts in starting the summer pre-law program for American Indian law students and the American Indian Law Center, Inc.
