National Health Day gets students hip to issues

Numerous information booths on health awareness lined the outside of Zimmerman Library Wednesday to celebrate National Health Education Day. Event coordinator Amy Farrar said she chose the three main health issues to feature smoking, sleep deprivation and eating disorders/body image.

George Harrison lives on through new release

Sadly, George Harrison is dead - somehow, though, he has managed to record another album. Weird. Actually, this is a good thing. The last years of this "quiet Beatle" were apparently well-spent, writing and recording new music despite his ailments. Perhaps the end of his life was occupied by philosophizing about life, something bigger and the impermanence of it all.

'Remembering' performance is modern, powerful

"Remembering," a contemporary dance presentation by the Bill Evans Dance Company is not your typical performance. Instead, it will delve into both the cerebral and emotional process of memory, through classical music inspired movement. Some jazz music and tap pieces will also be presented at the South Broadway Cultural Center Sunday, Nov.

Gonzales to NCAAs, cross country teams miss championships

Staff Report The UNM men's cross country team finished seventh in its final meet at the NCAA Mountain Region Cross Country Championship last weekend at the UNM North Golf Course. The seventh place finish was not enough to earn an at large bid in the NCAA Championship.

Staff Report Researchers from UNM's Cancer Research and Treatment Center are collaborating with computational linguists from NMSU and Sandia National Laboratories on an innovative "smart" computer system that will speed up the process of analyzing volumes of data in new genetic research.

Lobos to face Bradley in NCAAs

by Lee Cornell Daily Lobo The UNM men's soccer team had mixed reactions to the announcement of its seeding in the NCAA tournament at Coaches Sports Grill on Monday afternoon. Cheers went up amongst the team as the Lobos' name appeared, but they quickly subsided as the players and coaches realized they would be taking to the road to face Bradley University in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Gutsy games prelude to MWC tournament

The seventh-seeded Lobos start the tourney with a rematch against second-seeded San Diego State University, Thursday.
