As this year’s state legislative session ended Thursday, lawmakers passed Senate Bill 347 to prevent the Legislative Lottery Scholarship from expiring at the end of this fiscal year. The Daily Lobo spoke with UNM President Robert Frank on Friday about his impression of SB 347 and how it might affect students in the future.

February is African American History Month. African Americans have had a very difficult time in the U.S. They were treated as less than human, bought and sold as slaves, separated from families, abused, killed, denied an education, denied the right to vote, segregated and experienced many other evils. For most of the season, the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year debate has been centered on two players: New Mexico forward Cameron Bairstow and San Diego State guard Xavier Thames. Over the last couple weeks, New Mexico men’s basketball coach Craig Neal said that some have not given his team enough credit about its win over Cincinnati, a foe receiving votes at the time but ranked seventh last week.
