Doctor supports abortion ban

A former abortionist came to Albuquerque Friday night to talk about the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Ordinance. Anthony Levatino, a former abortionist who practices gynecology in Las Cruces, encouraged anti-abortion activists to campaign in favor of the initiative at Glory Fellowship Hall.

GOP film criticizes immigration

The UNM Conservative Republicans has found a film to back up their stance on undocumented immigration. The group will host a screening of the movie titled “They Come to America: The Cost of Illegal Immigration” in the Student Union Building today. The movie is directed by Dennis Michael Lynch.

Football: Win over Air Force came down to defense

Someone’s defense had to step up in the end. It just so happened that the New Mexico football team’s did after a high-scoring affair that came down to who had the ball last. There was no game-winning drive, but still plenty of drama in UNM’s first Mountain West Conference victory of the season.

Volleyball: UNM dominates despite downed player

The New Mexico volleyball team is going to have to rely on its depth for the rest of the season after losing a key player to injury. UNM dominated Utah State (17-9, 9-5 MWC), completing its 11th sweep of the season, but lost freshman outside hitter Julia Warren

Urlacher honored during halftime ceremony

Brian Urlacher, heralded by many as the best New Mexico football player of all time. had his No. 44 officially retired during a halftime ceremony Friday night at University Stadium. Urlacher played for four years in the last 90s before becoming one of the top linebackers in the NFL. Following the ceremony, Urlacher answered questions from Albuquerque media. Groups rally for, against ban

Student organizations across UNM are mobilizing to help spread the word on the proposed abortion ban which Albuquerque voters will decide on in less than two weeks. Shaya Rogers, a member of the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance, a pro-abortion rights group on campus, said her organization started to advocate against the measure about a month ago.

International Week kicks off Monday

UNM students can go global next week. The University’s Global Education Offices, with the help of various other organizations, will launch this year’s International Education Week on Monday. Danielle Gilliam, administrative officer for GEO, said this year’s international week will be a big one.

New Mexico men’s head basketball coach Craig Neal said he’s set on four players in his starting lineup. No real surprise, but it will be Cameron Bairstow, Alex Kirk, Hugh Greenwood and Kendall Williams — all returning starters from a year ago.

Football: Air Force, Lobos evenly matched teams

It’s been tough for the New Mexico football team to get into gear the past three weeks. The Lobos stumbled out of the gate at Wyoming, trailing 21-0 before losing 38-31 on Oct. 12. The following week, UNM was routed 45-10 by Utah State, a game that went downhill after the Lobos fumbled on their first possession of the game.

“If only people on the right would put as much energy into making it work as they would attacking it, it would work. This is the typical absurdity we get from Washington and the progressive left. But I’m not surprised. And of course, the reason their given program isn’t going so well is because those of us that have warned about it were exactly right.

Some may lose UNMH providers

Contract renegotiations between insurance provider Presbyterian Health Plan and UNM’s Health Sciences Center have left some patients looking for a new primary care provider. PHP members who use UNMH as their primary care, which includes family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics, can continue to see their UNMH providers until Dec. 31.
