The amazing aquascope

The room is painted black. The only light comes from three narrow spotlights, one near the door and two others on the opposite side of the room. Under the first spotlight spins a potato on a fishing line.

Cuba explored through poetry

Usually when one imagines a poetry reading, the image involves a single speaker under a spotlight reading from a note card or reciting verse from memory. Santa Fe group Teatro Paraguas is changing that image one reading at a time.

Get out of the US while you still can

The best advice I can give to my fellow UNM students right now is this: get out of the country while you still can. You’re young, smart and you’ve got the time and the energy to do it. If you attend classes at the University of New Mexico, you can probably afford it, too. Or at least your parents can. Buy yourself a passport and get out now!

The quarterback situation for the New Mexico football team is the murkiest it’s been all season. UNM’s top two quarterbacks, sophomore Cole Gautsche and junior Clayton Mitchem, are battling injuries. Gautsche suffered a right knee injury in the waning minutes of Saturday’s game at Wyoming.

Holocaust memoir gripping

It is hard to imagine what anyone would do to survive in the midst of war. Would you chat up the guards for better rations? Would you lie to other prisoners if it meant not admitting to yourself that they were going to die? Would you sleep with enemy soldiers for warmth and protection?

Dr. Pegs Prescription

Last week I saw several patients who were suffering from anxiety. Granted, this was the week before Fall Break, and by the time this article hits the stands, perhaps the break will have calmed some people down, but anxiety is common enough that I think it worth addressing.

Flawed parents at fault for kids’ problems

Editor, Many adults get rich off poisoning kids’ bodies and minds. Many churchgoers are horrified when kids kill kids and old people, but these are the same churchgoers who have no conscience against paying Uncle Sam tax dollars to kill kids and old people in other nations.
