Editor, This letter is in reference to Luc Mouchet’s Nov. 23 letter about the proposed student recreation center.
Dear Dr. Peg, It seems like everyone I know has a cold. Is there anything I can do so that I don’t get sick too?
Editor, The recent outbreak of cholera in Haiti has led to a steady deterioration in the relationship between UN peacekeepers and the Haitian people.
Editor’s Note: Lobos Abroad is a regular column from former Daily Lobo staff members studying in a different country this semester. I have been known to grumble about an afternoon class that I would prefer to nap through, so when I heard about Linkoping University’s educational structure, I was giddy. Little did I know that I was more dependent on UNM’s structured course schedule than I thought.
Americans have labored under the impression that voting is the most important civic duty. Those people never bothered to consider shopping.
Editor, I would like to show appreciation for the UNM groundskeepers for their hard work. I think that the work they do is underappreciated.

After much hard work on the part of online editor Junfu Han and Detroit Softworks, the Daily Lobo has revised its online comment system to require a valid e-mail account before a comment is published on our website.
Editor, Wednesday I was enjoying lunch, reviewing for a quiz, and chatting with some friends in the ANTS lounge in the bottom level of the SUB. Editor, I am writing in response to Jason Darensburg’s piece, “America is not really a democracy, so why vote?” For starters, Jason, if you go to LoboWeb and look up next semester’s classes, you will be able to find intro-level political science courses that will hopefully correct your perverted misconception of our society.
Editor, Students in the Sustainability Studies 334 class started a campaign called “Education is Power,” which aims to reduce UNM’s electricity use by 10 percent.
Editor, The recent changes forced upon the MySpace community without its consent are pissing a lot of people off.
Editor, I wanted to comment on Jason Darensburg’s letter in the Daily Lobo on Wednesday. Jason, you hit the nail right on the head with your letter about voting.
Editor, Everyone contributing to the Educational Retirement Board (ERB) should take notice. The UNM Staff Council sent out one of its usual e-mails Tuesday, and the first paragraph alerts people about changes that the ERB is making.
Editor, I read the sad news that another gay teenager killed himself. Fourteen-year-old Brandon Bitner ended his life Nov.
Editor, So, another election cycle has come and gone. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Elections change nothing. It helps the ruling class to keep the charade of a representative democracy going in this country, despite overwhelming evidence that we now live in a one-party corporate state that is sliding deeper toward fascism every day.
