Dealing with inconvenient truths

Take a minute and ask yourself: How big is my carbon footprint? Not many will admit to the damage they’ve done, but in some way, shape or form all of us have contributed to the global warming situation we are living through. It’s no secret that carbon dioxide is accumulating in our environment, and although some will debate the issue, countless statistics point to the contribution this has to global warming. Results from a study in April’s edition of Environmental Science Technology show that China and the U.S.

Provosts' illogical claims will further harm graduation rates

Editor, After the resignations of two of the six tenure-track faculty in the mathematics and statistics department, the Albuquerque Journal quoted Provost Suzanne Ortega as stating: “There’s absolutely no evidence to suggest that this particular loss of faculty or any other has diminished the quality of the instruction.” Wow!

As I read the headlines, listened to issues supported by the slates and read about the concerns regarding voter turnout, I was falling fast under the impression that student government issues did not register in the minds of undergrads on the level they should.
