LETTER: Bill would increase TV election reports
October 28by Michelle Singer Daily Bruin U-Wire The voters blame the politicians. The politicians blame the voters. Nobody takes responsibility for the uninformed, uninterested population. And nobody blames what may be the largest source of voter ignorance yet: the media.

October 28by Heather Gabel ASUNM vice president and Lorenzo Garcia ASUNM Senator The Associated Students of UNM Senate has been hard at work as a whole and in its individual committees. In a previous article, I told you about the Finance Committee, the Presidential Appointments Committee and the Steering and Rules Committee.
COLUMN: Sniper coverage terrible
October 28by Sean Misko Daily Collegian U-Wire With suspects in custody for the D.C.-area snipings, the people of suburban Washington can collectively exhale in relief for now - so too can the American public, which for the past three weeks has been subjected to endless, round-the-clock coverage of the sniper.
COLUMN: Gay prejudice still exists for adoptions
October 25by Anat Maytal Harvard Crimson U-Wire Steve Lofton is not your typical deadbeat foster dad. Under his care, he has voluntarily raised five infants that no one else would take in. LETTER: Column on discovery of coffin praiseworthy
October 25Editor, I was pleasantly surprised to read the column by Craig Butler about the recent discovery of the possible coffin of James (Jesus' brother.) Since I am often guilty of publicly (and privately) railing against this paper (regarding it's liberal bias), then I certainly want to take a moment to praise you for even allowing a column, which addresses spiritual issues.
LETTER: 'Red Meat' would complement Lobo
October 25Editor, As a daily reader of your newspaper, I have become quite familiar with its format and general viewpoint. Their gracious treatment of these foreign guests was gratifying and their patience in conducting a careful, in-depth interview, in spite of the challenges of working with an amateur interpreter (me), produced a favorable impression on the visitors and a complete and accurate report on their journey around the world.
COLUMN: Pumpkins quirky, interesting
October 24by Ben Everett Columbia Daily Spectator U-Wire I tried free-associating on the word "pumpkin" this morning, and came up with the following: necromancy, lust, good clean fun, muffins. Weird. But also fitting - pumpkins are strange things. After all, what other fruit takes the pan-American spotlight only two days every year, first as a festive lantern, then as a festive pie? To boot, pumpkins tend to pop up in fairy tales, transmogrified into bulbous carriages or blown up to the size of Volkswagens.

COLUMN: Iraq issue hurting Democrats
October 23by Brian Wagner Columbia Daily Spectator U-Wire It has become quite obvious to politicians that Iraq is going to be the largest influence on the 2002 election season.
