Letter: The U.S. creates terrorists by bombing, disrespecting mother countries

Instead of just getting all high and mighty and righteously indignant with all these Muslims among us killing everyday citizenry, we must acknowledge that a big reason they are doing so is that by and large we are bombing their mother countries year after year without interruption. Hence we get the likes of terrorist Ahmad Rahami, who is a naturalized citizen from Afghanistan.

Letter: ABQ has the ability to lead the nation in switching to solar energy

Just a few short days ago the City Council set the city of Albuquerque up for the future by making a realistic goal of switching over to solar energy. Right now Albuquerque is getting a measly three percent of all of our energy coming from solar energy and the change put forth will put us at 25 percent by the year 2025.

Letter: People should be more critical of some Biblical stories

Samson in the Bible was a suicide bomber! Samson prayed to God to help him to murder his enemies as he killed himself. The Bible says the building Samson destroyed was full of men and women and 3,000 more people were on the roof. (Judges 16: 25-30.) Samson killed possibly more people that day than were killed on 9/11 at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Op-Ed: Why you really hate Colin Kaepernick

Now that some of the heat surrounding Colin Kaepernick has died down we can take a breath, step back and examine some of the greater and less obvious dynamics involved in the situation that seemed to send the nation into a frenzy a few weeks ago.

Letter: Saudi Arabia can be part of the solution against terrorism source

In general Americans don't know much about other parts of the world. We are after all raised on a steady diet of American exceptionalism which indoctrinates us from an early age to view ourselves as the best people in the world. If we then view ourselves as the best people in the world then it naturally follows that learning about the rest of the world might seem like a waste of time.

Letter: Rational and educated Americans should vote for Hillary Clinton

I recently picked up an old used bargain book titled ‘The Tyrants - 2,500 Years of Absolute Power And Corruption’. “Only true tyrants can display the iron will, bombastic ego and ruthless abuse of power necessary necessary to achieve whatever they wish, no matter how outrageous...” It is a terrifying and horrifying book about man’s inhumanity to man. #NeverAgain

Editorial: Safe space discussion needn't be black-and-white

Over the summer, University of New Mexico administration updated its employee training. In doing so, the University entered the fray of a debate that has been dominating the higher education landscape recently, one centered on balancing meaningful discussion on uncomfortable issues while taking into consideration what might be considered a "trigger warning" for some people.

Letter: Kaepernick should be commended for raising awareness on minority mistreatment by police

In a recent conversation with a friend about NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick's refusal to stand for the national anthem, my friend questioned Kaepernick's sincerity. My friend said, "This guy has played in the NFL for years and all of a sudden he gives a damn about race relations?" The simple fact of the matter is that people can change and only God really knows whats in a man or woman's heart.

Letter: Too much evil in the world for a loving God to exist

Would a loving human parent slam and lock the door forever against a son or daughter regardless what evil they have done? Would a loving parent God sentence billions of people, or even one person, to never-ending torture with no pardon, no parole? To all who believe in God, do you believe in hell? I would never want to spend eternity with such a cruel monster God!
