Editor, The prophet Martin Luther King, Jr. refused to castrate truth into safe generalities. The FBI hounded, harassed and persecuted him because he made truth specific. He damned the Vietnam War, nuclear weapons and the evils of U.S. imperialism and capitalism.
Editor, I am thinking of the people of Syria. I am thinking of the mother, caressing the cheek of her infant as she drifts off to sleep. I am thinking of the father, laughing as he carries his son on his shoulders.
Do Republicans understand that we live in a republic? Republicanism asserts that all citizens possess unalienable rights that cannot be voted away by the majority. Yet Republican Gov. Susana Martinez has recently called for a vote to decide if all citizens of New Mexico have to right to get married.
Editor, Although I am not inclined to give up eating meat at this time, I do appreciate what PETA2 is doing in order to raise my awareness level and educate me about the treatment of some farm animals.
Editor, Recently President Obama gave a speech saying that he will consult with Congress before launching a military strike against the Syrian regime. This was followed by a candid statement claiming that he does not need any lawmaker’s permission to do so.
“When I was in the White House, I was confronted with the challenge of the Cold War. Both the Soviet Union and I had 30,000 nuclear weapons that could destroy the entire Earth and I had to maintain the peace.” ~Jimmy Carter
Editor, Regarding the Daily Lobo’s Sept. 3 coverage of activists protesting the administration’s proposed military intervention into Syria, I had a few concerns with this piece that I feel must be voiced.
Though Chelsea Manning’s coming out as transgender has only been news in the past few weeks, it seems to have opened a discussion of being transgender while in the military.
Dear Dr. Peg, I went to the SHAC a few days ago about small bumps I noticed on my penis and pubic area. The person I saw said they were molluscum contagiosum and she used a liquid nitrogen spray to freeze them off. I had 5 bumps and now they have all increased in size, popped, and are starting to scab up, like she said they would.
Editor, Thanks for reporting the hate letter on the car and the earlier writing of “Sand-N*gger” on the same victim’s door at the SRCs on campus in last Wednesday’s Daily Lobo, but I noticed you did not include the race/ethnicity/religion of the victim.
“Hey, you. Internet troll. Yeah, you. Go away. You’re not contributing anything to the conversation.” How many web users these days scroll through the comments section and want to say that?
Editor, If I were to tell you, dear reader, that you may carry a siren of moral turpitude and a harbinger of impending doom in your pocket, and worse yet, that you engage with its glacé contours as joyfully as you would a beloved novel or film, would you take heed?
Editor, The column headlined “America’s Founders were men, not deities” by Marcus Leyba in Monday’s Daily Lobo indicated there is a chronic misguided “appeal to the Founding Fathers”.
“Well he has a boyfriend, but I think he is flirting with me,” I said. “Why?” my friends asked. “Because he uses smiley faces and winky faces in his texts!”
The narrative of a brutal, dystopian future is a persistent theme in science-fiction cinema. Mankind, for the most part, is portrayed as being utterly powerless to avert the inevitable post-apocalyptic nightmare that awaits us.
Editor, I love living naked at home and nearly naked elsewhere, when I am warm enough. My naked, lean, healthy, well-tanned body is my favorite suit. Living naked connects me to the earth.
Does this sound familiar? A round, raw-looking sore on the edge of the lip, right where the lip meets the face. You have probably seen this on someone, perhaps even on yourself.
A classic definition of law was given by Thomas Aquinas in the 13th century. He defined law as: “A command of reason, promulgated by legitimate authority, for the sake of the common good.”
Both GPSA and ASUNM are honored to give you a warm welcome for the 2013-2014 school year. ¡Bienvenidos! Having spent the summer planning for the present academic year, it is refreshing and encouraging to be surrounded by our colleagues,
