The New Mexico baseball team earned its ninth-straight victory with a 4-3 decision over Texas Tech on Monday at Lobo Field. Left fielder John Pustay had the game-winning hit, a double that went off of the second basemen’s glove, to score pinch runner Kirby McGuire all the way from first base.

New Mexico completed a three-game sweep over San Jose State following an 11-6 win over the Spartans Saturday in San Jose. The Lobos (30-11-1, 14-4 MW) also won two games Friday 14-2 and 5-2. The teams played a double-header on Friday after Thursday’s game was postponed because of poor playing surface conditions.

Volleyball: Riddle, House to represent UNM

For the second straight year, UNM volleyball head coach Jeff Nelson is sending a pair of Lobos to the U.S. Collegiate National Team. “There aren’t very many schools that have multiple kids on,” Nelson said. “It’s pretty awesome to have a couple kids make it and have that experience.”

Softball: Versatility key to success

Experience is not going to be a factor during the final stretch for the New Mexico softball team. “At this point in the season we consider them all veterans,” head coach Erica Beach said. “We don’t put too much emphasis on how old whoever’s on the field.”
