The New Mexico women fell to 9-16 on the season, 4-10 in Mountain West play, after a 53-48 loss to San Diego State on Saturday at Viejas Arena in San Diego. Guard Antiesha Brown led UNM in scoring with 15 points, followed by forward Deeva Vaughn with 14 points. The Lobos started the game with a scoreless slump over the first 2:58, missing their first two shots and committing three turnovers.

Women's Basketball: Lobos push on after UNLV

The New Mexico women’s basketball team is looking for some positive momentum heading down the stretch. With only five games remaining before the Mountain West tournament in Las Vegas, Nev., head coach Yvonne Sanchez said that she is not worried about her team’s ability to turn things around.

Women's Basketball: Lobo women dominate UNLV

Despite late turnovers and poor free throw shooting, the New Mexico women’s basketball team finally got a close game to end in its favor. UNM (9-15, 4-9 Mountain West) ended a three-game losing streak, beating the UNLV Lady Rebels 65-58 Wednesday night at The Pit.

The defensive side of the ball has caused problems for the New Mexico women’s basketball team, particularly in the late game. Take UNM’s last contest at Nevada this past Saturday. The Lobos held a 73-71 lead with less than a minute remaining, but let the Wolf Pack come back to win with a 4-0 run.

Men's Basketball: Bairstow leading in MWC top scoring title

The top two scoring threats in the Mountain West went toe-to-toe Saturday afternoon at The Pit. Advantage: Cameron Bairstow. New Mexico basketball’s senior forward moved into the top spot in the conference’s scoring title chase after hitting 24 points in the Lobos’ 90-72 win over Nevada, staying on San Diego State’s heels in the conference standings.

The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team let another game slip away. This time, it was a 75-73 loss at Nevada on Saturday. The Lobos had a 73-71 advantage with less than a minute remaining before the Wolf Pack took the lead with a 4-0 run.

Women's Basketball: Lobos seek win in Nevada

Youthfulness may be playing a large role in the team’s struggles late in the game for the New Mexico women’s basketball team. “I was looking at the roster the other day and I realized that Sara Halasz is the only player who has played in the program for more than two years,” head coach Yvonne Sanchez said.

Baseball: MWC defender team to beat

It is definitely a start of a new era in New Mexico baseball. Gone are the likes of first baseman DJ Peterson, catcher Mitch Garver, outfielders Luke Campbell and Josh Melendez and starting pitcher Sam Wolff, all of whom signed with major league teams this past offseason.

With two clutch threes to tie the game at the end of regulation, it seemed as though New Mexico women’s basketball team’s close-game misfortunes were about to come to an end. The Lobos were able to dig themselves out of a hole and send the game into overtime with all of the momentum.

Men's Basketball: Lobos lose at last second

The New Mexico men’s basketball team will have to wait to catch San Diego State in the Mountain West standings. The league-leading Aztecs lost on Tuesday night at Wyoming 68-62, giving the Lobos an opportunity to tie SDSU if they won Wednesday night at Boise State.

Football: Davie receives 27 National Letters of Intent

It appears that the New Mexico football team can now compete in the recruiting game. The 2014 recruiting class for the Lobos highlights that fact. UNM received 27 National Letters of Intent last week, and head coach Bob Davie said the Lobos were able to beat out Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College and California University for some of their new talent.

Men's Soccer: Three ABQ natives among UNM signees

Justin Hix knew at an early age that he wanted to play college soccer for New Mexico, like his dad Jason did in the early ‘90s. Now not only does he have his dad’s connections to the school, the younger Hix has joined a recruiting class featuring his friends and club teammates CJ Slough and David Gros.
