Football: Progress shows in loss

Maturity takes time. Two years ago, the New Mexico football team fell at Boise State 45-0 without much of a fight. On Saturday, UNM lost once again to the Broncos in Boise, Idaho, but the game was much more competitive. The Lobos lost their regular season finale 45-17 at Bronco Stadium.

Football: Lobos rebuilding defense

From the outside, it may look like Bob Davie’s long-term plan for the New Mexico football team isn’t working, particularly on defense. UNM’s head coach said he’s not overly concerned about the Lobos’ defensive struggles, pointing out that Baylor’s defense struggled mightily for two seasons under coordinator Phil Bennett before turning it into a top-11 defense this season.

Women's Basketball: Missed shots lead to loss

Head coach Yvonne Sanchez didn’t have an explanation for why the New Mexico women’s basketball team struggled to shoot the ball. It’s hard to come up with one when a team hits just 31.7 percent (19-60) for the game and 17.9 percent (5-28) in the first half.
