UNM exceeds expectations

Jarrin Solomon, Jeremy Johnson and Ariel Burr were not going to let other athletes come to their home track and steal their thunder. At this weekend's Modrall Sperling Lobo Invitational, the UNM track and field athletes held their own against a field of some of the top competition in the sport.

Column: Game-winning field goal to send Colts to Super Bowl

With the New Orleans Saints marching into Chicago to play the Bears, and the New England Patriots set to face the Indianapolis Colts, football fans are in for a treat this weekend. I can't wait to see if the Saints can continue to keep the city of New Orleans energized by their great play, and I'm also looking forward to the matchup of two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks going head-to-head.

Column: Brees to dash Manning's hopes for a trophy, ring

I need to mail Andy Reid a gift certificate to Krispy Kreme. Reid, the head coach of my favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles, made a couple of the most boneheaded decisions I have seen in the playoffs, seemingly because he was daydreaming about the next batch of doughnuts he could feast on rather than watching the game he was supposed to be coaching.

Kole McKamey will not be returning to play quarterback for the UNM football team next season. McKamey announced at a press conference Friday that his football career will be over after five years as a Lobo. He had petitioned the NCAA in an attempt to receive a sixth year of eligibility after he was lost for the 2006 season in the second game because of a torn ACL.
