Fusion, Cell Theatre bring in 'Bedbound'

by Rafael Gallegos Daily Lobo The Cell Theatre and its resident professional-theater company, Fusion, have brought another hot new play to town. Edna Walsh's "Bedbound" just had a run in New York City at the Irish Repertory Theatre. It now comes to off-Broadway Albuquerque with a different cast and crew to kick off The Cell's second season.

'Chicago' a musical home run

Velma Kelley nails it when she breathlessly says, "OK fellas, keep your socks up, 'cause you ain't seen nothin' yet," because the musical has returned to the big screen with all that jazz and then some. Not since "Grease" has a musical created such a buzz, but the new film version of "Chicago" has wowed Hollywood, the Oscars and American audiences.

Latifah, Martin film's new odd couple

Director on search for one-hit wonders

This fact led Mark Moskowitz to the production of his latest film, "Stone Reader." Others gather to support Bush, war

Many students attended the anti-war rally Wednesday to voice their opinion that war with Iraq is a necessity and to call on the American public to support the Bush administration's decisions and U.S. troops overseas. Robert Dietz, a senior biology major, said that Saddam Hussein epitomizes evil and needs to be removed from power in any way possible.

Collins named as Sevilleta director

The program director for ecological studies at the National Science Foundation has been selected as director for the Sevilleta Long-Term Ecological Research Program. Scott Collins, who has been with the National Science Foundation since 1992, began as director of Sevilleta on March 1.

Track stars shine at indoors

Keren Sari-Bentzur brought home the gold medal in the women's pentathlon, setting a school-record with 3,845 points, to go along with another first-place finish in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.

LETTER: Smoking hazards foolishly ignored

Editor, Our government closes down, puts on notice, and fines restaurants for guacamole and Alfredo sauce that isn't the correct temperature. Our government gets involved when a restaurant uses wiping cloths improperly. Our government demands that restaurants that are open to the public (and are therefore public places,) not store food near cleaning products, clean their ice machines and supply paper towels to their customers.
